How we ensure excellent progress?
All pupils have additional needs from those pupils that have been identified as gifted and talented to those pupils that have specific challenges including English as an Additional Language. We develop programmes of individual support for all of our pupils that challenge them to achieve their potential.
We are justifiably proud that when a pupil leaves Thornhill School they are ready to achieve successes in their chosen fields whether that be Further Education, Apprenticeships or workbased learning.
Our pastoral teams ensure that the pupils' well being is of their highest priority from the moment the pupil arrives with us until they leave. Each pupil has allocated a tutor who deals with day to day issues, a Head of House and a Deputy head of house who manage their team of tutors and also work with pupils who have more specific needs. The pastoral teams work closely with the additional needs department tailoring intervention strategies to the individual needs of the pupils.
Pupils have benefited from the school's designation as a business and enterprise college and the curriculum meets the needs of the pupils well. The school provides good value for money.Ofsted
