The Gatsby Benchmarks are 8 standards against which schools and colleges can measure and improve their careers provision.

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters for further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Our current progress towards meeting the benchmarks is shown in our termly Compass report.

Thornhill Academy is working as part of the north east’s second careers hub with the NELEP. This is allowing us to work collaboratively with schools from across the region to share best practice and innovate.
