It has been a busy week for our year 10 peer mentor team as they have received two prestigious awards within a week. Last night they attended Sunderland Young Achievers Awards Ceremony where they were judged to be overall winners in the city’s anti-bullying team category.
Only a week ago they were judged to be the most active anti-bullying team within Sunderland’s secondary schools. The team were presented with this award by the mayor of Sunderland.
Both awards reflect the efforts of the team regarding supporting victims of bullying and striving to combat bullying.
Peer mentors are also very actively engaged in supporting year 6 pupils as they join us for year 7. Other schemes include helping with PDL, assemblies and school open days.
We are always looking for new ideas and have recently added roles of reading mentors and attendance mentors to our list of actions.
Well done peer mentors, Keep up your good work.
