Year 6 pupils from Barnes Junior, Diamond Hall, Hudson Road and Richard Avenue primary schools recently had a great day of fun filled languages at Thornhill. The modern foreign languages department invited the youngsters to take part in the special event to coincide with European day of Languages.
The event organised by Miss Holland, Mrs Mitchell, Mrs Todd and Mrs Oliver was very successful and took place over two days with two schools each day.
There was a full programme of activities based on foreign languages including; learning how to sing Christmas carols in German, quizzes, games, videos as well as learning a little of the language and about what life is like in countries such as Spain, France and Germany.
At the end of the day pupils were delighted to leave with prizes, stickers and certificates to celebrate their achievements. As well as having a flavour of different languages, the pupils had the experience of spending the day at Thornhill. Many of our pupils were on hand to help out and make the day one to remember.
Miss Holland said 'the event promoted the learning of new languages in a fun way and was a rewarding experience for all involved.'
