This term year 8 pupils had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a business and enterprise scheme provided by SAFC and Caterpillar Articulated Trucks. The project educated the pupils on various aspects of business and enterprise, such as the classifications primary, secondary and tertiary businesses. They looked at job roles, who does what at SAFC. They also learned about why businesses needed objectives and why internal and external customers are important in a business. They were taught this by SAFC staff; pupils found this enjoyable and informative. During the last two weeks, the pupils focused on a presentation that they were to show at the Stadium of Light. This presentation was on how to make Caterpillar trucks greener. The pupils worked very hard to complete the PowerPoint and it taught them life skills like organisation, teamwork, confidence and communication.
On Monday 22nd March, these pupils were invited to a conference at the Stadium of Light. There were many schools from across the city and our students presented to an audience of over 200 people. They demonstrated excellent presentation skills and were fine ambassadors for our school. Whilst we didn't win, they were all winners in the teacher's eyes. All pupils involved are to be commended on their performance. Special thanks to Morgan Ashton Conlin, Sarah-Rose Boxall, Fahmida Begum, Regan Gibbons and Ruby Johnston for representing our school.
