Thornhill School recently succeeded in reaching the Year 9 Durham County Rugby Championships held at Bishop Auckland RFC. It was the third time in the last three years that the boys have represented Sunderland at the County Champiosnhips, illustating the skill and determination of pupils and teachers to continue this excellent run of results.
Sadly, the team didn't manage to win the overall title, however, they did win the Plate Competition, beating Consett Sports College 41-15. The standard was very high and the boys will continue to improve having tasted success.
This is just one of many sporting achievements by teams and individuals at Thornhill. We compete at the highest levels, and do so in the right spirit, well done!
A pleasing footnote is the news that four boys in year 10, Harry Gills, Aidan MaClennan. Jonathan Winlow and Lloyd Mordey were chosen for Durham County Trials at U/15 level. Again, well done chaps!
