TENS of thousands of pounds has been raised in Sunderland to help the ongoing fight against cancer. Fund-raisers from the city branch handed over a cheque for £35,500 to Cancer Research UK.
A host of events have been held over the last 12 months to raise the impressive sum, including the annual sponsored walk from Seaburn to South Shields by pupils, families and friends of Lowe House.
Secretary of the Wearside branch, Edna Ford said members continue to be bowled over by the generosity of the people of Sunderland and are grateful for the support it receives from Thornhill School, where the Cancer Research annual general meeting takes place.
Mrs Ford said: “Most families have been touched with cancer at some stage, so people have a personal reason for donating to this cause.”
A big thank you to all pupils, teachers, families and friends of Thornhill who have donated their time and money to support Cancer Research - every penny helps!
