School league tables confirm Thornhill in top five best performing secondary schools in Sunderland
Hot on the heels of record GCSE results the 2014 government school league tables place Thornhill in the top five secondary schools for GCSE Value Added. This measure is the fairest way of comparing schools and indicates how much the Year 11 pupils have improved since leaving their primary school.
Mr Hallworth commented ‘Everyone is delighted with the news of Thornhill’s continuing success. These figures prove how much the teachers and support staff here help our youngsters achieve what they need for their futures’
Thornhill has also been in the top 100 most improved schools in the country three times in the past ten years.
