Pupils and staff at Thornhill School paid their silent respect to the country’s war dead in the Remembrance Assemblies this week as well as pausing and reflecting during our period of silence on November 11th.
Within our assemblies all pupils were made aware of the work of the Royal British Legion in supporting those who have suffered and made sacrifices so that we can live in a country with the values of; democracy, rule of law, individual liberty mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
The Royal British Legion relies on the sale of poppies to be able to continue its good work. At Thornhill poppies are sold as we wear the poppy to remember the men and women whose lives have been affected by conflict. There is a Remembrance Memorial in our reception area.
