In March 2019, Tally Mennear (10H2) entered the Immerse Education Tech Competition which is held in conjunction with Cambridge University. This is an extremely popular and challenging competition in which entrants need to be able to succinctly and astutely articulate their thoughts around a given topic.

Tally entered a fantastic essay based on the subject "Why should young people be interested in technology and how can it benefit society?”

In May, we found out that Tally has been awarded a runner up prize! Tally’s entry stood out amongst thousands of entries from around the World. The competition was highly competitive but judges were extremely impressed by Tally’s entry in particular.

Tally’s prize means that in July, she will be travelling to Cambridge University (Royal Hospital School) to undertake a two week scholarship placement in Web Development. This will be an amazing opportunity for Tally to experience life as a student in one of the World’s most prestigious Universities, studying one of the subject areas that she’s most passionate about.

Staff at Thornhill Academy are absolutely delighted with Tally’s huge achievement and hard work, and wish her the very best of luck in both her summer scholarship and her upcoming final year at Thornhill Academy.
