Parents

We aim to provide the highest quality careers education, independent advice and guidance possible to raise the aspirations of our students and ensure they reach their full potential.

We help students to

  • Find out about careers and the world of work

  • Develop employability skills

  • Take responsibility for planning their own career pathway

This is delivered in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:

  • Guidance lessons and Tutor time

  • Assemblies

  • Visits to and from employers, colleges and universities

  • Inspirational speakers for schools

  • Activities delivered within curriculum areas

  • Events such as our Futures Fair, Inspiration Days and Workplace Experience

  • Visits to colleges, universities and workplaces

  • Workshops with training providers and employers

  • Online events and virtual opportunities

  • Independent study and research

  • One to one career interview advice

We ask parents and carers to support students to positively engage in as many careers and future education opportunities presented to them. Parents and Carers of Key Stage 4 students have the opportunity to join us for our Futures Fair each year to speak to employers, education and training providers.

In the student section of or website, there is a vast range of resources for student and parents to find out more about different careers

In the Labour Market Information section of or website, you can find out what careers and jobs are needed both locally and nationally to help students prepare for the future employment landscape.

The Parents Perspective Podcast- This is a regular podcast exploring careers advice from a parent perspective.

All students will have a 1:1 careers advice interview in Key stage 4 and Year 9 will be guided through their subject options choices in guidance lessons, assemblies and through curriculum lessons.

We welcome feedback from parents and carers, and we use it to improve our careers offer.

We also welcome any involvement from parents able to offer career related opportunities or advice to students.

If you would like to give feedback, make suggestions, or get involved please email Mrs Crooks at, cherry.crooks@consilium-at.com

Part Time work

Part-time work or volunteering is a great way for students to build a cv, gain valuable experience and earn some money. There are strict rules about the hours young people can work and the types of work they can do. These rules exist to protect them and stop employers asking them to do too much and all employers of school age children need a permit.
